Achievement by achievement continues to be achieved by the academic community of Muhammadiyah Malang University (UMM). One of them was won by UMM Government Science student Irvan Indra Bagansa. He successfully brought home the third place trophy in the SH Cup championship event, January 17-18 in Surabaya. He defeated hundreds of martial arts athletes from various regions.

Irvan, as he is called, explained that he competes in the adult men's E class category. His victory wasn’t the result of taking it easy; instead, it was the outcome of rigorous training long before the competition. He mentioned that he had to train 4-5 times a week to maintain peak conditions and perform at his best.

"I had no choice but to manage my daily schedule carefully," he said. "I kept pushing myself to train hard while attending classes to avoid skipping them. I trained independently and sparred on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. It was quite a challenge because the training left me exhausted and sometimes drowsy during lectures. But, alhamdulillah, everything went smoothly," he emphasized.

Fortunately, UMM, known as the White Campus, offers dozens of Student Activity Units (UKM) to support the potential of its students. This includes Irvan, part of the PSHT UKM, allowing him to train alongside other members. "Alhamdulillah, UMM always provides a platform and full support for me and other students to achieve excellence," he emphasized.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Government Science Program, Muhammad Kamil, S.IP., MA, stated that this achievement not only brings pride to Irvan but also enhances the reputation of UMM’s Government Science Program at the national level. “With the growing number of achievements earned by our students, it proves that the Government Science Program continues to produce young generations who are competent, accomplished, and capable of competing in both academic and non-academic fields,” he said.

Kamil expressed his hope that this achievement would inspire other students to persevere and keep striving. By doing so, they can ultimately make positive contributions to themselves, their program, and the university. He added that UMM students should not be afraid or hesitant to try new things, as the university consistently provides platforms to support their talents and interests. (*/wil/ind)
