UMM Arabic Language Education held the annual Al Arabiya Festival Expo (ALEPO) which was held last February 19. There are a series of activities that take place, ranging from Arabic debates, speeches, poetry, and others. There are hundreds of students from various regions who compete and compete to get champions.
Nabilatin Nadif, the chief organizer, stated that the ALEPO event was held with the hope of attracting students from various schools to explore the opportunities available when studying in the Arabic Language Education (PBA) program. She hopes that ALEPO will continue to grow and further increase students' interest in learning Arabic, especially considering that Indonesia is one of the countries with the largest Muslim population in the world. As a result, the Arabic language will always be in demand.

"There are various competitions that students can participate in. This is our way of encouraging them to deepen their understanding of the Arabic language," she added.
One of the highlights of ALEPO 2025 was a seminar held during the opening event. It featured Dewantoro Ratri, the founder of Mainkata Translation Production and a professional voice-over actor, who delivered an inspiring talk. He encouraged students to explore the many career opportunities available for graduates of the Arabic Language Education (PBA) program.
“80% of graduating students in Indonesia choose jobs that do not match their majors. However, if you major in Arabic language education (PBA), it is guaranteed that you will not be lost when looking for a job. Because, Arabic will always be needed and used in everyday life, especially in Indonesia,” he added.
He also explained about the world of voice over. Dewo said that there are three elements of communication that must be considered, namely words, intonation, and voice articulation. Meanwhile, supporting tools such as microphones and sound cards are also needed by a voice over. So in this activity, Dewo also introduced and taught many new things about the world of voice over, such as vocal tests.

“Having voice over skills is an extraordinary skill. Therefore, we must often do vocal exercises, in order to explore the vocal abilities that we already have. Certain voice segments can represent certain emotions and certain emotions. This will affect certain advertising products,” he said.
He explained that being a voice-over artist is not easy. Producing an outstanding two-minute voice-over requires tremendous effort and can take up to an hour of recording. Therefore, he emphasized that this industry will continue to be in demand in the future. "Is there a possibility of being replaced by AI? It depends, but I doubt it, because the quality of a human voice is far superior," he added. (zaf/wil/ind)
